"Decluttering my home of 17 years showed me my 'poverty mentality' has been doing me more harm than good." (Story by [email protected] (Laura McCamy)
After reading the article, I had an "aha" moment, realizing that many of us struggle with a similar situation. In my profession, I've helped many people sort things out, but letting go of items, whether they make sense to keep or not, is never easy.
Here are some tips for you in similar situations:
Identify Causes: Understand why you keep certain items (fear of scarcity, sentimentality, etc.).
Set Goals: Decide what you want to achieve (organization, less stress, functionality).
Take Small Steps: Break the process into manageable tasks (one room or drawer at a time).
Minimalist Mindset: Keep only what you need and use.
Seek Support: Get help from friends or professional organizers.
Donate/Sell: Let go by giving to charity or selling items.
Practice Gratitude: Focus on and appreciate what you have.
Reflect on Progress: Regularly review how decluttering has improved your life.
Just do it,(if you can bring your body and mind to do this) getting started on the decluttering process, you can create a more peaceful, functional living space and you will not only inspire others, but you may inspire yourself :)
