Canadian housing markets show regional diversity
As real estate professionals serving Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas, we always keep an eye on how Canada’s housing markets are shifting—because those trends can influence decisions right here at home. Across the country, we’re seeing some interesting regional differences: Calgary and Edmonton are experiencing a bit of a cool-down, although steady population growth is supporting their markets. Over in British Columbia, prices are dipping, while Ontario is showing a patchwork of results from city to city. Montreal is facing its own set of challenges, with affordability issues coming to the forefront as inventory rises.

At Girls on the Go, we understand the importance of staying updated on these national trends while also keeping our clients fully informed about what’s happening locally. If you’re looking for the latest real estate information specific to Medicine Hat and our surrounding communities, our website is always up-to-date to help you make confident decisions—whether you’re buying or selling.

Canada Set to Build 231,000 Homes Annually Toward Housing Goal
As dedicated real estate professionals serving Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas, we’re always tracking the latest trends and data shaping the Canadian housing market. Recent numbers from CMHC highlight a significant challenge: Canada needs to build between 417,000 and 469,000 homes annually through 2036 to restore affordability, yet is only on pace for about 231,000 a year. That adds up to a projected shortfall of 2.4 million homes over the next decade—an issue made more complex by rising construction costs and softer condo sales.

It’s a national discussion, but the impact is very real for our local communities. Staying informed on housing supply and affordability is key for buyers and sellers alike. Our commitment has always been to keep you updated on what these big-picture trends could mean for your next move in Medicine Hat, Dunmore, Redcliff, and beyond. If you want the latest market insights and a seamless search experience, our website is always up to date with the information you need. Girls on the Go always put their clients first!

Canada Needs Twice the Projected Homes
Canada’s housing supply is in the spotlight again, and the numbers are staggering. The national housing agency says we’ll need between 417,000 and 469,000 new homes built each year through 2036 if we want to get back to pre-pandemic levels of affordability. Right now, construction isn’t keeping up—and that leaves us facing a yearly shortfall of 187,000 to 238,000 homes over the next decade. With building expected to slow even more quickly than demand, this poses a serious challenge for affordability across communities, including right here in Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas. Many of the homes currently in the pipeline are already in progress, which means we’d need to double current projections just to make a real dent in the shortage. Staying informed about these shifts is essential for buyers and sellers alike—especially in a market as dynamic as ours. We always keep our clients up to date with the latest trends and data, so you can approach your next move with confidence.
