I would like to start by saying that I have always preferred working with Buyers…..especially first-time home buyers. You are helping someone make the biggest financial decision of their life, and that decision can truly make or break them in the years ahead.
I love getting to know my clients, hearing their stories, meeting their families, sharing laughs, and helping guide them through everything from home renovations, zoning, home pitfalls, septic systems, the Landlord Tenant Act, permits, resale value, and so much more. Real estate is so much more than opening doors and filling out paperwork.
Heidi, her mother Erika, and I started looking at homes back in 2023. Yup… it took almost 3 years (on and off) to find the perfect first home.
During that time there were plenty of laughs and adventures:
* needing a tow truck after a showing (it’s been long enough now that we can tell Matt 😂)
* me stepping into tubs because being tall means showing clients they literally can’t stand up in some showers
* “stand by the doorway so you can see how low these ceilings are”
* winter showings where you almost miss the driveway under the snow
* icy stairs, hurt ankles, and wondering if anyone had heard of snow removal
* plugged noses from homes with very stinky cats
* discovering rats in outdoor sheds
…and many more moments that HGTV somehow never seems to show.
The best part of being Heidi’s Realtor wasn’t just finding the house — it was building a connection with this amazing young woman and her family (okay… still undecided about Matt 😆).
I truly look forward to continuing our friendship and laughter as neighbours down the street, and hopefully enjoying some outdoor activities together in the future.
Real estate isn’t always:
“Let’s see 3 houses and write an offer.”
Sometimes it’s years of showings, emotional ups and downs, competing offers, walking away from the wrong house, learning patience, and waiting for the right home at the right time.
Thank you, Heidi, Erika… and yes, even Matt… for making this adventure so fun and memorable.
And for the record — the award for Best First-Time Home Buyer definitely goes to Heidi 🏡❤️
I’m always up for a buyer challenge.
