The Doorway That Became a Turning Point

Imagine being so vulnerable that a doorway is your home.

Now imagine someone comes along and says: You deserve better than this.

That’s the story behind Brent’s Place, a new tiny-home village being built in Scarborough for people experiencing homelessness.

Brent was found sleeping in a doorway on a freezing night in 2024. He became one of the first residents of Tiny Tiny Homes, eventually moved into permanent housing, and passed away in June 2025.

But here’s the part that hits hard:

His story didn’t end in that doorway.

Now, 10 tiny homes are being built in his honour — complete with showers, laundry, community space, case management, healthcare connections and housing support.

A tiny home might sound like a small solution to a huge problem.

But sometimes a small door can open into a completely different life.

Toronto needs more stories like this. ❤️
