This kitchen was already cute I just took it to main-character energy ✨
Owning your own place means you can upgrade slowly, intentionally, and on your own timeline. When the bones are good, you don’t need a massive reno day one. You get to enjoy each upgrade as it happens… and your bank account doesn’t take a single-day emotional hit.
Here’s what I’d change, why it works, and what it would roughly cost in the GTA:
💙 Lean into the cobalt blue range
Instead of toning it down, I doubled down. Colour = personality.
Cost: $0 (already there, just confidence required)
🧱 Textured blue backsplash (soft + glossy, not coastal)
Adds depth without competing with the cabinets or stove. Unexpected > basic.
Cost: ~$400–$800 materials (DIY), ~$1,200–$1,800 installed
🚰 Stainless steel pot filler
Practical, luxe, and instantly makes the kitchen feel custom.
Cost: ~$250–$500 fixture + ~$500–$900 install
💡 Hidden under-cabinet lighting with a lip
Layered lighting = cozy, not clinical. Also makes the backsplash pop at night.
Cost: ~$200–$400 DIY, ~$600–$1,000 installed
🍽 Styled glass-front cabinets
Blue + silver dishware keeps it elevated but still usable.
Cost: ~$150–$300 (aka Homesense +Anthropologie = my fav shopping day)
☕ Appliance garage instead of a microwave
Clutter gone. Counters always clean. Air fryer + coffee machine stay hidden.
Cost: ~$300–$700 depending on cabinet setup
✨ Mercury glass pendants + chandelier-style track lighting
Reflective, glitzy, and way warmer than builder-grade fixtures.
Cost: ~$300–$700 per fixture, ~$150–$300 install each
None of this requires a full reno just intention, taste, and knowing where to spend. And if it’s not DIY-friendly? I’ve got trusted pros for that 😌
Design inspo only. Kitchen is already amazing as-is.
