📊 According to CMHC, builders kicked off over 270,000 new homes (annualized) in September — that’s a 14% jump from August!
💥 Most of the growth came from condos and apartments in big cities — Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal leading the charge.
But here’s the catch… even with this surge, Canada is still millions of homes short of what’s needed to make housing affordable by 2030.
Why? 🏗️
👉 Construction costs are up
👉 Financing rates are high
👉 Skilled labour is short
So this “boom” might not last long if rates don’t cool soon.
