The much anticipated report from the newly created Housing Affordability Task force has been released! 🏠🏢🌆

In the past two months, the task force have met municipal leaders, planners, unions, developers and builders, the financial
sector, academics, think tanks and housing advocates to come up with solutions to the current housing crisis we face today.

An ambitious but achievable target of building 1.5 Million homes over the next Ten years has been proposed. This report includes over 50 recommendations on how to achieve this target and solve the crisis we face today.

Recommendations include: increasing housing density, removing red tape on developments, setting uniform provincial standards for urban design, and addressing labour shortages in the construction industry.

In a recent survey it has been shown that 84% of Canadians are concerned about the rising home prices. This has become a major issue in recent years and has been a hot topic of discussion as the election looms around the corner.

It has been found that Canada has the lowest number of housing units per capita of any G7 country. To match the average of other G7 nations, Canada would need to build 1.8 million homes.
