Although economists were expecting the Bank of Canada to move more aggressively by hiking its rate three-quarters of a point, the Bank of Canada only raised its key policy rate by 50bps to 3.75%.

Canada's central bank continued its campaign to wrestle high inflation into submission on Wednesday, raising its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 3.75 per cent.
