📢 Attention Rockwood Village Residents:

Mississauga City Council will be voting this Wednesday on Councillor Martin Reid's motion to implement a 1-year pause on new AI data centre applications. The purpose of the proposed freeze is to give the City time to study the potential impacts and develop an appropriate planning framework before additional projects move forward.

Many residents have expressed concerns about the long-term impacts of large scale AI data centres, including infrastructure, energy demand, water use, noise, and land use. Others see economic and technology benefits. Wednesday's vote will determine whether Council pauses new applications while these issues are examined.

If this issue matters to you, now is the time to let your voice be heard.

Ward 3 residents are encouraged to respectfully contact Councillor Chris Fonseca before Wednesday's vote and share their thoughts on the proposed 1-year freeze.

🏡 June 2026 GTA Market Update

The Greater Toronto Area housing market showed encouraging signs in June as we head into the second half of the year.

After a slower start to 2026, the market gained momentum:

📈 Home sales were up 9.4% compared to June 2025.
🏠 New listings were down 12.9%, meaning fewer homes came onto the market.
⚖️ Stronger buyer demand combined with lower inventory is creating a more balanced market and increasing competition for well priced homes.

So far this year, home sales have edged higher than they were during the first half of 2025, while inventory remains significantly lower. This shift is helping to reduce the supply of available homes and could lead to firmer home prices as we move through the second half of the year.

💰 The average GTA home sold for $1,058,658 in June. While that's still 3.9% lower than a year ago, the pace of price declines continues to slow. Month over month, average prices posted modest gains, another positive sign that the market is stabilizing.

Looking ahead, the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board expects buyer confidence to continue improving as pent up demand is released. If this trend continues, home prices could level off and begin to rise before the end of the year.
