A Real Life SUPERHERO!
This post is way overdue.
Almost 2 years ago, my daughter graduated high school. Milestones like this make you notice things.
It makes you think of the past and the amazing things that happened along the way. Lots of learning experiences that shaped where we are and who we’ve become.
This is a unique school where she attended all the way from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 12. It holds 14 years of memories for us.
At the graduation ceremony, I spotted her JK teacher. Her first teacher. I immediately thought of the day we met her, at an open house at the school.
Our daughter was 3 at the time and testing her boundaries. We were finding it difficult to be tough with our little one. My wife was finding it especially hard.
In our first meeting with this teacher, we talked about it. And she could tell my wife was having a hard time with it.
The teacher was kind but straight forward. She said that kids of every age need boundaries. When they test those boundaries, they’re looking for the limit. When they find it, they feel safe, loved and cared for.
This made a lot of sense, and my wife had an emotional burst of relief. I have to admit, this made me emotional, too.
This woman had tremendous knowledge and skill for her job. It was also obvious to us that she cared for the kids she took responsibility for.
We’ll always value what this talented, beautiful teacher did for our daughter and so many other kids. She excelled at her job and cares about those she served. We need more people like her in every job that serves people.
You’re a real life superhero. Thank you, Miss Kane!
