The #1 threat to your home isn’t fire, wind, or pests. It’s water. 🌧️
With the spring rains officially here, the outside of your home is working overtime.
One of the most common—and most destructive—issues our inspectors find across Canada is "negative grading" and disconnected downspouts. If your downspout is dumping hundreds of gallons of rainwater directly against your foundation wall, it’s only a matter of time before hydrostatic pressure causes a crack, leading to a flooded basement and a massive repair bill.
A proper Mike Holmes Inspection doesn't start at the front door. It starts at the roofline. We track exactly where the water is going, how the soil slopes, and if your foundation is compromised.
Take 5 minutes today: Walk around the outside of your house. Are your downspouts extended at least 4 to 6 feet away from your foundation?
👇 Drop a 🏠 in the comments if your downspouts are good to go, or a 🌧️ if you need to make a trip to the hardware store this weekend!
