In the bustle of a busy Easter season, we recently took a moment for a very special visit. We met with Danica Lahanky Carroll to share a traditional Ukrainian Easter basket and, more importantly, to honor a connection that spans generations.
Danica’s family was there from the very beginning, helping to establish the Ukrainian Association in Moncton over 50 years ago. While many organizations come and go, Danica and her family have remained a constant — a living bridge between our history and our future.
More Than Just a Space
It is rare to find a family so dedicated to the “long game” of community building. Beyond attending our events and remaining active members, the Lahanky family has been instrumental in providing the physical foundation for our work. They didn’t just give us a place to meet — they provided the space that allowed us to plant our roots.
Because of this partnership, we’ve been able to invest in our own community hub — renovating and maintaining a dedicated environment where we can organize community gatherings, host workshops, and provide space for different educational and cultural activities.
