Each February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and celebrations that honour the legacy and contributions of Black people in Canada and their communities.

The 2026 theme for Black History Month is: “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.” This theme celebrates three decades of Black History Month in Canada by highlighting the enduring contributions of Black Canadians across time. It acknowledges the foundational role of nation builders—those who fought for civil rights, advanced social justice, and shaped Canada’s cultural and political landscape. At the same time, it looks forward to tomorrow’s visionaries, the emerging leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are redefining excellence in every field.

Help Granite Court Tenants Recover After the January 4 Fire

On January 4, 2026, a fire at Granite Court (124 Main Street, St. George, NB) displaced 22 seniors, suddenly turning their lives upside down. While we are deeply thankful that everyone is safe, many residents are now facing the loss of their homes, personal belongings, and unexpected financial strain.

This fundraising campaign was created to provide direct, compassionate support to tenants affected by the fire. Funds raised will help cover urgent and short-term needs such as:

- Temporary accommodations
- Clothing and food
- Transportation
- Replacement of essential household items

All donations are administered by Atlantic Baptist Senior Citizens’ Homes Inc., the non-profit organization that owns and operates Granite Court, and 100% of funds raised will go directly to the affected tenants.

- Donations of $10 or more are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

💖🎄 Words truly can’t describe how grateful we are for the amazing seniors in our community!

Time and time again, you show up for one another 🤝, share your talents 🍰🧶, and contribute far more than we could ever ask for. It really does take a village 🏡✨

This week’s Christmas Dinner was full of warmth, laughter, and generosity 🎅🎁 — from homemade Christmas dishes and sweet desserts to beautiful crafts lovingly shared with everyone. Our hearts (and plates!) were full 😋❤️

We were also so thankful to welcome our guest speaker, Lisa Gautreau, founder and owner of Compassion Cuisine 👩‍🍳🥗, who shared an informative and inspiring presentation on nutrition and culinary support for diabetics.

While our role is to support seniors in the community, we feel incredibly blessed every day by the wisdom 📖, kindness 💕, and encouragement you give back. The lessons we learn from you all are truly unmatched 🌟

We can’t wait to ring in the New Year together 🎉🥳 and continue welcoming new faces along the way!

🎄✨ Atlantic Baptist Housing Management Christmas Party, The Bapty Awards Style Edition ✨🎄

Last week, our Atlantic Baptist Housing management team came together to celebrate the season, reflect on a year of hard work, and enjoy some well-deserved laughs at our Christmas party. This year, we added a fun twist with Dundie-inspired awards from the series The Office, proudly named The Bapty Awards, recognizing the unique talents, dedication, and personalities that make our team so special.

From The Multitasking Maestro and MacGyver Meets Martha Stewart, to The Boujie Road Warrior & Seinfeld Survivalist, along with The Human Highlighter, The Detail Diva, and The Professional Strutter, the night was filled with light-hearted moments, gratitude, and plenty of laughter.

It was a wonderful reminder that while our work is meaningful and impactful, it is the people behind it who truly bring our mission to life—“Adding Life to Years” for the seniors and communities we serve.

Thank you to our incredible leadership team for all you do throughout the year. We are grateful for each of you and look forward to another year of collaboration, care, and community. 🎁✨
