Aging Well Community Expo – A Community Success

The Aging Well Community Expo was an incredible success for the NHWW Bathurst team. After recognizing a gap in our community for an event focused specifically on seniors, we decided to take the idea and run with it, bringing together local organizations, service providers, community partners, and seniors all under one roof. The turnout exceeded our expectations, and seeing so many seniors come through the doors, connect with organizations, ask questions, and leave with valuable information made all of the hard work worthwhile. From the planning and organizing to the day of the event, our team put a tremendous amount of time, energy, and heart into making the Expo a success. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from both seniors and exhibitors was incredibly rewarding, and we are so proud of what we were able to create for our community. What started as recognizing a need has turned into an event that has opened the door for future opportunities and shown just how much impact NHWW can have beyond our regular programming.

We’re pleased to officially welcome Jennifer “Jen” Larsen as Chief People & Culture Officer at AB Housing!

Jen joined AB Housing on August 14 and officially assumed leadership of our People & Culture portfolio on August 31, 2026. She brings extensive experience in strategic HR leadership, employee engagement, organizational transformation, talent development, and building strong workplace cultures.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Sheryl McGaw Douse for her leadership, commitment, and significant contributions to AB Housing during her time as Chief People & Culture Officer.

🚨 ABH Announces SOFIAC’s First Investment Project in Atlantic Canada 🚨

Atlantic Baptist Housing is proud to announce a new partnership with SOFIAC that will support a major energy-efficiency investment across ABH facilities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

This $5.4 million project will modernize aging building equipment, reduce energy consumption by an estimated 33%, and generate more than $500,000 in annual energy savings.

Through SOFIAC’s innovative financing model, ABH can move forward with important infrastructure upgrades without tying up capital needed for resident care and other priorities.

Most importantly, these improvements will contribute to greater comfort, reliability, and quality of life for the residents we are privileged to serve.

✨ Celebrating a Legacy of Service ✨

As part of our Nursing Home Week celebrations, Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home was honoured to host a Retirement Dinner recognizing 14 retirees who have concluded their careers with our organization since January 2025.

Together, these remarkable individuals represent an incredible 292 years of dedicated service to our residents, families, colleagues, and community. Their commitment, compassion, and professionalism have helped shape the legacy of Spencer Home and contributed immeasurably to our mission of Adding Life to Years.

The evening was filled with gratitude, laughter, memories, and heartfelt appreciation as we celebrated the lasting impact each retiree has made throughout their career. We were also pleased to welcome many spouses, family members, and guests who have supported our retirees throughout their journeys in long-term care.

On behalf of Atlantic Baptist Housing, our Board of Directors, residents, families, leadership team, and staff, thank you for the difference you have made and for the legacy you leave behind. We wish each of our retirees happiness, good health, and every success in this exciting new chapter.
