What lies behind the facade? We can only perceive what is visible, right? Upon entering through the large oak doors, you will be transported back in time to an era when life seemed simpler . For the past 40 years, our objective has been to restore and revive the craftsmanship of bygone days with passion. Repairing and restoring cannot be replaced with new lumber. Old quarter cut oak and plaster cannot be substituted with new oak and gyproc. We continually seek out the perfect, imperfect bits and pieces . Antique school desks get to serve another day as oak staircases that were torn out decades ago. Heritage shades of old wallpaper once again grace the walls. The scratch on the floor where the piano once played should remain, as it tells the story of life at a slower pace. If you prefer living in a box with four white walls, we are not the right fit. However, if you are an old soul, regardless of age, you will appreciate the ambiance of yesteryear.

A wonderful surprise this morning when I woke up to find this beautiful sketch on my IPad. Local teacher & historian Janie Fries took time to sketch this iconic house that sits proudly on the corner of Oxford and Grafton . Former home of the first judge of the Northwest Territories, this house has been restored to it’s original glory. Craftsmanship of years gone by is evident throughout.
The basement under the curved veranda was the billiard room of His Honour Judge Ouseley .
A great house representing Moose Jaws pioneer vision of a wonderful city and community.

There are moments when we are reminded of our privilege in having friends like ours. Char and I have never liked the term "landlords." We suffered the loss of this incredible woman just over a year ago, and her remarkable record of community and family service is awe-inspiring, leaving us with a deep regret that we did not know more about her while she was alive. As an avid gardener, Sharon would "without notice" switch out our flowers 🌺 and replace them with her favorites. We have the most incredible people, each with their own unique story. This memory was jogged by cleaning out a drawer. This note made our day. Thank you to the Penner family.

It was a beautiful fall evening to meet with our friends at the annual Appreciation Autumn supper.
A few slipped away before photos got taken but everyone’s attendance was much appreciated .

A beautiful annual Christmas get together with some of our favourite people .
Uptown Cafe has expanded their facilities and it is beautiful. Food was amazing. . We’re all looking forward to our 2025 Summer Bbq.
