Annually, NACFOR hosts a training day with local contractors we work with to refresh our skills on safety practices, emergency management, and best environmental practices.

NACFOR has created its own Environmental and Safety Management System (ESMS) document, which we review every year and ensure it is up to date.

Contractors review and use a field book that has quick reference for on the job site.

Huge thank you to all of the contractors that participated in the training day, to Corrin from Kootenay Safety Consulting for the drills and to Kristy Robins for a great lunch!

Have a fun camp! We are proud to support such a great youth recreation initiative for the Arrow Lakes.

🤸 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Sponsors! 💙

As we get ready to kick off our Arrow Lakes Gymnastics Club Summer Camp this week, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible local businesses who helped make it possible.

A heartfelt thank you to NACFOR for supporting our camp as our Event Sponsor, and to Peach Door Counselling for generously sponsoring all of the kids' craft activities throughout the week.

Your support helps create a fun, welcoming, and memorable experience for every child attending camp. We're so grateful to have businesses that believe in investing in local youth and our community.

Thank you for helping make this summer one to remember! 💙🤸☀️

Our Community Chipping Day was a success!

We started with a huge pile of yard waste, dropped off by residents, and ended up with a full dump trailer of chips!

Chips will be used for trail building by the Arrow Lakes Cross Country Ski Club.

Thanks to FireSmart Canada for contributing to the event.

Thank you, Nakusp Men's Shed!

The Men's Shed group recently built four picnic tables for the NACFOR donations program. Constructed out of locally milled White Pine, these tables are beautiful!

If your organization is fundraising, submit an application to the NACFOR donation program for a picnic table. We give them away as silent auction items.

Planting is complete for 2026 ✅

This year, contractors planted 40,765 trees over 29.5 hectares on NACFOR tenure in Slewiskin and Fosthall. Species planted include cedar, fir, larch, white pine, yellow pine, and some spruce.

Seedlings are sown each year, after harvesting is complete, to ensure the right stocking standard and species composition are met.

This week, quite a few of our management team is at the 2026 Conference and AGM in Vernon.

We had a great time on the field tour yesterday on the Monashee Community Forest, and have listened to many engaging sessions today.

Mike, our general manager, was part of a panel today about “defining and delivering community benefits.” Mike talked about our NACFOR governance structure and policy, donations program, and other benefits to community. Great job Mike!
