This market is one of the most "resilient" markets in BC.
Parksville Qualicum Beach & area is unique in that it is not as affected by the "labour market" because it is primarily a retirement area. It is certainly not immune to overall market quirks and foibles but none the less "different".
What makes this market resilient you ask? Historically 65 % of buyers and sellers are cash (no mortgage) i.e. retirees or folks getting ready for retirement. That takes a lot of "urgency" to sell (or buy) away. Its not 100% of the time, health and family are still factors. A situation of losing your job or being relocated for work just isn't a big factor in choosing to sell or buy.
Condos are less expensive historically, but be aware that a strata , be that bare land, townhome or apartment style is like having an additional layer of government ,but they are your neighbours!
