Primary Choice Homes

Primary Choice Homes The past leader in Rent to Own homes in Nelson, British Columbia. It can be a win/win when it works (5 stars) but when it doesn’t it sucks (1 star).

Covid was a horrible time where many things fell apart. I’m not perfect but I am passionate about housing. I am very grateful for the 40+ properties that I have worked on for the decade + I have been operating this business for. So many families were able to obtain homeownership through this program. Though, many families did not make it, which was heart breaking….Covid was an extremely hard time

for families to qualify purchasing out their properties. And as the market went up… investors and sellers did not want to extend the contracts.. they could make more, as they were experiencing hardships as well.. it was an extremely challenging time for me and caused me to loose a lot of faith in humanity and doing the right thing…

Then I personally got into a car accident and it was a game changer for me in my life. It’s important to do things that bring you joy and feed your soul… this line of work had stopped doing that for me. So I was planning on no longer doing rent to own properties,,,,
but then people began to ask me to come back, and now I am working on select properties/clients. But I am offering consulting on a one on one basis to help homebuyers streamline their process in accelerating a future purchase for them. It’s a free service and my pleasure to offer. Give me a call anytime.. A little background about me:

I moved bc to Nelson to raise my children here in 2011. My children’s father grew up here and we wanted to live in a great community. I had been studying real estate for a long time and been working closely with real estate investors from Alberta, where I'm from originally, and Vancouver. I really liked the model of lease option real estate. Which is Renting to Own properties, because it allowed individuals who needed to save more for a down payment or had minor credit issues, time to work on attaining home ownership through living in a property that they would eventually buy. For example, many people who come out of University have a lot of debt and can't buy. Young families, where parents are just getting started with their careers and are raising children at the same time, have so many expenses they often can't afford to buy homes. I know that - I actually rented to own my first property. I work with a team of realtors, lawyers and mortgage brokers and we pre-qualify our tenant/buyers before they move in because we want them to be able to buy the home. I care about these people, as well as the owners of the properties that I help facilitate the rent to owns with. Everyone I work with, I have a relationship with and they become my friends. I genuinely want to help bridge the gap into homeownership. I believe this is why my company has become so successful. In a small town reputation is everything. Because of the support of my clients, I have expanded beyond Nelson doing Rent To Owns in other towns. Primary Choice Homes now covers the whole West Kootenays, from Trail to Nakusp to Grand Forks. I was also elected and have sat on the Affordable Housing Committee with the City of Nelson and I volunteer with other organizations such as Habitat For Humanity. Housing on all levels is important to me. And I've had the pleasure of being on the Front Page of the Kootenay Business Magazine as a Mover and Shaker for business in the community. That's a really nice honour.
