BC Standing Inventory Reached 6.7K
With 25 years of experience helping clients navigate New Westminster’s real estate landscape, I keep a close eye on inventory trends across the province. Right now, BC’s standing inventory has reached 6,700 homes—5,500 of those are condos, while the remainder includes townhomes and multiplex units. The numbers show unsold homes are spread well beyond the major centres: Burnaby leads with 1,210, followed by Vancouver (1,020), Surrey (798), and Coquitlam (620). New Westminster itself accounts for 224 units, reflecting a healthy share of the region’s available properties. Even cities like Richmond (396), Kelowna (372), and Delta (211) are part of this broader inventory picture. It’s worth noting that while some say the surplus is all studios and one-beds, the provincial data tells a different story—inventory spans a range of sizes and price points. For anyone keeping a pulse on New West and the wider BC market, these figures are an important backdrop for smart buying and selling decisions.
