All aboard! After more than a decade, the long-awaited Northlander train is returning to Ontario’s rail network in 2026, connecting Toronto to Timmins with expanded service and modern features.
The new bi-directional route will operate between Union Station and Timmins, including stops in Muskoka communities like Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and Huntsville. Operated by Ontario Northland, the revamped Northlander will use fully accessible Siemens Venture trainsets featuring Wi-Fi, USB charging, food service, and seating pods for groups.
With 16 stops in total and a projected 60,000 annual riders by 2041, the return of the Northlander promises a comfortable and scenic alternative to driving, especially for cottage country commuters and Northern Ontario residents.
