📈 The Bank of Canada has lowered its benchmark rate by 25 basis points, bringing it down to 4.75%. This marks the first rate cut since March 2020. The central bank stated that the decision was made due to evidence that underlying inflation is easing, which indicates that monetary policy can be less restrictive. Although there are still risks to the inflation outlook, the Bank expressed increased confidence that inflation will move towards its 2% target.

• Variable-rate Mortgages: The prime rate, which variable-rate mortgages are based on, is expected to decrease to 6.95% at most major lenders, except for TD, which maintains a mortgage prime rate 0.15% higher.
