Twenty years ago today, my world changed forever.
Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my son, Mathew.
He was the sweetest young man—always polite, always thoughtful. I used to jokingly call him “Mr. Please and Thank You” because those words were always on his lips. He held doors open for others, treated everyone with kindness, and never left the house without giving me a kiss on the cheek.
Mathew was a wonderful big brother to Megan and was always there whenever I needed help. He had such a bright future ahead of him. He was heading off to college, working at The Keg, making plans, dreaming big dreams, and looking forward to all that life had in store.
Sometimes I find myself thinking about all the moments we never got to share—his graduation, his wedding day, becoming a father, and watching his life unfold. Those are the memories that live only in my heart and imagination.
Twenty years may have passed, but the love I have for him remains unchanged. The ache of missing him never truly leaves.
Today, I will plant flowers in his memory, just as I do every year. As they bloom, I will think of his beautiful smile, his gentle heart, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts. ❤️ Mom xoxo
