Recently, I represented buyers on a property that was intentionally listed well below market value, with offers being held for one specific date.

Years ago, this strategy was common. Today, it's used much less often. Was it the strategy I would have chosen? Maybe not. But it was the sellers' decision, and our job was to compete.

There were six offers.

Unfortunately, we didn't get the house.

But here's what stood out...

The entire offer process was handled professionally. Communication was clear. Expectations were explained. Every Realtor was treated with respect, and everyone knew exactly where things stood throughout the evening.

The next morning, I sent the listing Realtor a message.

I thanked them for running such a professional process and congratulated them on a successful sale for their clients.

Why?

Because professionalism deserves to be recognized, even when the outcome doesn't go your way.

In real estate, you're not going to win every offer. You're not going to agree with every strategy. But you can always choose to treat people with respect.

I believe our industry is better when we communicate well, act professionally, and remember that we're all working toward the same goal: achieving the best possible outcome for our clients.

Sometimes the best lesson from a transaction isn't about who won.

It's about how the process was handled.
