๐ก CENSUS 2026 โ A QUESTION MANY CLIENTS ARE ASKING ๐จ๐ฆ
โShould I include people living in my house formally or informally in the Census?โ
Many homeowners and tenants are worried about possible legal, tax, rental, or immigration concerns related to disclosing occupancy information.
Hereโs the reality:
Canadaโs Census is primarily used for statistical and community planning purposes โ including healthcare, schools, transit, housing, and infrastructure.
There are no widely known cases in Canada where someone faced legal trouble simply for honestly reporting who was living in their home on the Census.
Statistics Canada also states that personal Census responses are protected under strict privacy laws.
As a realtor, my advice is:
โ๏ธ Read the instructions carefully
โ๏ธ Avoid misinformation and panic
โ๏ธ Provide accurate information
Strong communities start with accurate data.
