Developing condominiums not to meet expectations, but to change them.
The Non-Profit Approach to Development
Building houses one at a time is an expensive approach to home ownership. Condominium development provides an opportunity to create desirable living spaces within a socially integrated community. Home buyers today demand high-performance sustainable projects, that are sensitive to the local and global environment, not vague market pressures driven by short-sighted investors.
High Performance Building
Our integrated design team adopts a holistic approach to the development process, with attention to principles of accessibility, aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, health and safety. High-performance buildings are designed and operated to meet the highest standards for energy and water usage, system reliability, environmental compliance, occupant comfort, safety and productivity. We are not building just to sell, but holding on and occupying a portion of the units, to remain closely involved as owners and operators for the long haul. Good design prioritizes operational and maintenance efficiencies over decades-long occupancy life, where performance in terms of energy usage more than offsets the capital cost of ownership.
Fostering Community
Young professionals, working families and retirees all need a good home to live. The shifting demographic seeks walkable access to transit, parks and schools; proximity to work, shopping and entertainment in an urban setting. A low density building in the centre of the city juxtaposed to natural wonders, is not just a commodity, it adds to the fabric of the neighbourhood. We incorporate 2 to 4 bedroom units, large enough for families to thrive, and neighbours to socialize. By recruiting more than the basic elements of a building, we remove some of the barriers of isolation inherent to housing developments, and enhance liveability in an integrated community.
