Funny Girl and Sombra

Saturday rained all day and any thoughts of gardening or a nice walk soon turned into chores around the house. Well, if the day was uninspired, we can at least enjoy the evening!
With that in mind, we decided to go to the Shaw Festival Theatre for a 5pm showing of Funny Girl. A very enjoyable musical and as it was opening night, the theatre was packed full of people. A lively atmosphere and a wonderful show - well worth seeing!

As we walked back toward the car, we decided to try to get a table at Sombra, a recently opened Mexican restaurant on Queen Street. The place was fully booked but we waited for 15 minutes until a couple left. We took our seats and soaked up the lively atmosphere while we waited for our food. When it came, it was fresh, plentiful and full of flavour. The Queso Fundido Skillet with Chorizo to start along with some margaritas was a great opening course.
We followed up the a sizzling skillet (easily enough for two) of mixed meats, shrimp , peppers, onions and salsas. It was fantastic! The whole experience, including the service was wonderful and excellent value for money. Can't wait to go back!

Amazing Syrian Food at Nineveh

There have been many great restaurants in the area for years but over the past five years or so, we have noticed an increase in the choice of international cuisine. Once great example of this is Nineveh in St Catharines.

Famous for it’s fine pastries (if you are familiar with Baklava, this is next level!), this restaurant has some pretty unusual items such as specialty mini cakes that look and taste like fruits – you have to see these to believe! There is also a great selection of middle eastern shawarma dishes and many sides. The dessert I had, Kunafa, was amazing. This might sound weird but imagine mozzarella with a crispy coating, covered in honey and topped with crushed pistachio. A ‘must try’.

The menu is so extensive, it is easier to look at my photos and go visit for yourself! Inside it is more of a café style than a formal restaurant but it is tastefully done and no expense spared.

Extremely good value for money with enough left over for another night’s dinner and for less than $100 for two!

Niagara Region is famous for tourism and hospitality, most notably the wine and dine scene. There is a huge selection of small, independent gems, with locally grown/made food and drinks on the menu. One of my favourite pastimes is seeking out and trying new places and sharing some of these experiences with you.

It is always a great feeling when listing a property, to have it hit the market and to get a steady stream of showing requests. In the current market, it proves several things - 1) - The photography and property information have successfully attracted people's attention, and 2) the property was priced right to compel people to see it.

As one of my seasoned colleagues always say, 'If it's not compelling, it's not Selling!'

After around 20 showings and several offers, we were able to reach an acceptable deal which will allow the clients to move on, and we are looking forward to helping them find their next home very soon.
