This year marks the 10th anniversary of We’ve Got Your Back—our annual backpack donation initiative supporting children in our communities.

Over the past decade, we’ve proudly raised more than $447,000 and distributed 31,300 fully stocked backpacks to children across Arizona, Texas, Nevada, and Georgia.

This heartfelt campaign continues to grow each year, and we’re honoured to keep making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

Our 2025 goals:
Raise $30,000
Deliver 2,000 backpacks

The start of a new school year can be a stressful time for many parents and guardians. To alleviate some of this burden, we founded We’ve Got Your Back—an annual charity initiative aiming to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to every child across all our communities. 🧡 Not only does this program help the families residing at our communities, it also supports educators who, on average, spend more than $820 annually out-of-pocket on school supplies for their classrooms. 🎒 📚 ✏️

We’ve Got Your Back, an annual charity initiative, provides backpacks filled with school supplies to every child across all our communities.

OUR WHY:

🍎 15 million children living in extreme poverty in the US don't have money for school supplies

🍎 In many districts, teachers don't even publish a supply list because they know parents can't afford them

🍎 Public schools are underfunded and teachers are underpaid - teachers are often spending up to $1,500 of their own money on school supplies annually

🍎 Without supplies, students can't participate in the lessons and don't do as well academically

🍎 There is a stigma around children who are not prepared

Nine years ago, our CEO & Co-Founder, Janet LePage, toured an apartment community in Phoenix, AZ that was collecting back-to-school supplies in the lobby. At that moment, a goal was set: Every child at every WWC community would be fully equipped with the supplies they need to start the school year off right. Since that time, we have donated more than 25,000 backpacks and raised over $360,000. 🎒 💰

With your support, we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of the children and families residing in our communities, and the teachers who benefit from their students arriving to school prepared and ready to learn. 🧡
