Bill 60 (Ontario - LTB/RTA changes) :

1. Eviction notice for non-payment drops from 14 days to 7 days.
2. Tenants must give advance notice AND pay 50% of arrears to raise issues at rent-arrears hearings.
3. Government can define “persistent late payment” to allow faster evictions.
4. Deadline to request LTB review/appeal is cut from 30 days to 15 days.
5. LTB’s power to delay/postpone evictions will be restricted by new regulations.
6. New limits on when eviction orders (including default orders) can be set aside.
7. Landlords may avoid paying the 1-month compensation for N12 (own-use) evictions with 4-month notice.
8. LTB will speed up eviction processes and publicly post more decisions.
9. Stricter standardized LTB forms will be required for all notices.
