I lived in Oakville at the time and had grown up in a family of strong entrepreneurs. I'd been groomed to one day take over the successful family food business. Though I enjoyed the business and knew that I wanted to be my own boss, food service never felt like my calling. One thing was certain, I was passionate about helping and serving people. I thrived on helping others resolve a problem or issue and leaving them happier than before we'd met. My father was a big believer in reciprocity. He’d give away products for customers to try. My mother would lose her mind every time he did lol. He’d say “wait and see how quality product and goodwill can compound over time”. Sure enough, he was right! Our business was built on goodwill, reciprocity and not having a scarcity mindset. I knew early on that I wanted to serve, and to do it in such a way that wasn’t salesy, but trustworthy and felt good. How would I break it to my family? I no longer shared their vision? It wasn’t for me. The pressure of admitting to them that the business they'd built, wasn’t something I wanted any longer. When the doors to our shop closed for the last time, I was left without direction, purpose, sympathy and a ton of guilt. It was up to me now. Where and how would I start....again? To make matters worse, I had just purchased a new house in Burlington with the love of my life. We were soon to be married and had big dreams for our family’s future. I’d always toyed with the idea of being a realtor. I’d only ever heard that the industry was ruthless, and run by untrustworthy cutthroats. Everyone and their brother knew a realtor and there was no way I’d get a foothold in the industry. I needed to change that perception. I knew helping others achieve better, more fulfilling lives was definitely for me. I was ready to take it on head first and build an amazing business of my own. One built on goodwill, reciprocity and not with fear or a scarcity mindset. My wife “to be” supported us for a while as I began my journey. “This can’t go on any longer” I’d say to myself. It wasn’t fair to her and I wanted better for the both of us. Honestly, I’m surprised she still agreed to marry me lol. To help pay the bills I took a temporary position at a company in Oakville. This allowed me to contribute at home and still complete my real estate courses. Once I became a licensed realtor, I helped most of my coworkers buy and sell their properties. This propelled my real estate business. One of my all time favorite quotes is “Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise.” – Frank Ocean. I’m passionate about helping families upsize. Buying or selling a home isn’t the thing everyone remembers being the most fun. But it doesn’t have to be terrible either. I'll be by your side through the entire process. The support of trustworthy professionals I've assembled will also be at your disposal. We'll help to handle the stresses that come with moving. You’re busy, I get it. That's why my goal for the past 15 years has been to make this as stress free and enjoyable as possible. I empathize with all of my clients. Their move is my move. Having a client with regrets is something I avoid at all costs. It’s hard to settle into a new home. Until it becomes familiar and new memories are made, that old house is hard to forget. I try to prepare you for those emotions. It's very normal. Saying goodbye to a home filled with memories is always hard. Trust me, it's been years since we moved and I still drive by our old house with my kids. I’m here for my clients. It's an important part of the experience. You’re not just buying a new home…you’re gaining a new friend who happens to know all about the process.
