Old Town Harbour (OTH) is an engineered subdivision, built for long-term resilience. During its construction, as part of the government requirements, the new roads and the lots were raised to a minimum crest elevation of 860.8 ft (262.3 m). or what was then designated as the 100-year flood level.

The wisdom of this design was realized during the 2026 high water event. While the surrounding Parkland region has suffered extensive overland flooding and widespread road washouts, OTH has stayed DRY.

Even as nearby neighbours along Lake Dauphin were forced to sandbag against rising waters, every single home, lot and road within OTH stayed dry. Despite elevated water levels in both Lake Dauphin and in the Old Town Harbour canals, no OTH residents have faced the urgency or the necessity of sandbagging - even those with full basements.

Old Town Harbour stands as proof of effective floodproof engineering.
