During our Council meeting this week, we were presented with a proposal from Shared Tower Inc. to install a communications' tower beside the Post Office in Turner Valley. This proposal was opposed by all of Council. We made several motions, hoping that our opposition will be effective.
Unfortunately, the federal government has virtually full control in approving this application - but we still have the opportunity to oppose!
This is when all of our voices need to be heard.
Call to Action:
We ask that you email or submit a written submission to both the Applicant, Shared Tower Inc. and the federal body the ISED - the Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada.
In the subject line of the email, please add Site STCA153.

We ask that you focus on the following items:
1. The location in downtown Turner Valley.
The placement contradicts heritage preservation,
The placement will have a negative impact on tourism and local businesses,
The industrial nature of the tower conflicts with the surrounding commercial district,
The expected design hinders the ongoing revitalization efforts and will negatively impact economic development.
2. The option of co-location:
Request the applicant consider co-locating on existing infrastructure.
3. Suggest an alternate location
Consider providing an acceptable location such as the hill at the west edge of Town, or in an industrial area.
