The Mortgage renewals have been blunted by the drop in rates but affordability hasn't come down as many expected. Home owners who are renewing their 5 year fixed mortgages from 2019/2020 are still seeing increases in their payments but just not as much as in 2023.

Current 5 year Fixed rates are in the 4-5% range depending on your situation, and current 5 year Variable rates are in the 4.5%-5.5% based on the current prime rate of 5.95%.

Will we get a .50% decrease this week? I'm certainly hoping so.

Around 40% of mortgages up for renewal in 2025 will see "de facto lower monthly payments," CIBC economists say.

November's Sales numbers are out and they're up 40% year over year. How much will the Bank of Canada adjust the overnight rates on Wednesday. Consensus among economists is .25 % reduction but the unemployment numbers from last week have them talking about a .50 % drop to get ahead of more negative data. What does this mean for our local real estate market? Look out for a more in depth analysis coming soon.
