Six towers beside Whitby GO
Ontario’s proposed Whitby GO Transit-Oriented Community would bring roughly 2,350 homes, retail space, a public park and direct transit connections to the station.
The development concept includes:
• 40% two- and three-bedroom homes
• A landscaped plaza and covered pedestrian connection
• Up to five levels of underground parking
• 777 replacement GO commuter parking spaces, including 347 beneath the proposed park
Are the Whitby GO towers approved?
The materials discussed in this video describe a proposal. Whitby Council’s September vote requested another public meeting for fall 2026 or early 2027—it did not approve the towers.
There are potential benefits: more housing, retail and service jobs, and amenities within walking distance. But traffic, construction disruption, sunlight, privacy and views also matter for nearby homeowners.
If you’re buying a home in Whitby, don’t buy based on a future promise. Assess what works for you today and what could change around the property if this development goes through.
