On Saturday morning, we dropped my son, Jack, off for Basic Training at CFLRS (Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruiting School) in St-Jean, Québec.

As a mum, my heart is overflowing with pride... and if I'm being honest, it's also a little broken. Watching your child step into such a challenging and meaningful chapter is an incredible privilege, but it doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.

He's worked hard to get here, and I know he'll give it everything he's got.

We'll be cheering him on every step of the way and counting down the days until we see him again.

We couldn't be prouder.
