Say hello to Basma! 👋

Basma has lived with CCOC for the past seven years, and we had the pleasure of chatting with her about affordable housing and what that means to her.

“Affordable housing is important to me because I deserve to live without worrying about my rent. I spend time making friends with my neighbours and it truly feels like I live in a caring community. My family is back home in Jordan, but the community I have built here also feels like family. It’s very easy to make friends living at CCOC. Everything is like a spiderweb that connects us to each other.

I love the location of my building and how close it is to the museum, the grocery store, and other activities. Now that it’s warmer outside, I can go out and walk and enjoy the fresh air.

I know there is a stigma around affordable housing and what that means. But I want people to know that affordable housing is for everybody. Everybody deserves a home”
