Don't forget your Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declaration. A common misconception we see is owners thinking, "My tenants live there, so I don't need to do anything."

This is incorrect. Every residential property owner in Ottawa must file the annual declaration, regardless of occupancy status, to prove the home isn't vacant.

Missing the March 19, 2026 deadline can result in fines added to your tax bill.
