I believe you always have a choice. No matter what happens you can find the good.
Sometimes it takes a little longer to find that lesson…
I read a quote recently by Steve Jobs, "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward" meaning that you cannot predict how your life will turn out, but you can make sense of it by reflecting on your past experiences.
This is well said and I firmly believe in this!
As I weave through my day-to-day life and sometimes wonder what this is all about … I reflect back 3,5 even 10 years back and I can see the dots.

Meet my family: Mel aka the boss! And our little Finn!

These two light me up, never a dull moment in our household. Both Mel and I run hard professionally but know that home is where the heart is.

We've heard from many people, whose kids are now all grown up. The days are long and the years are short.

Some clients turn into friends. Through the selling and buying process, certain bonds and banter are established.

This was one of them. We looked at a number of homes and lost on a few multiple offers.

Once we found the perfect place to call home, we went all in. From the time we saw the home to having an accepted offer, it was under 75 mins.

It was busy and had lots of moving parts, although we got it done. Thanks for putting your trust in me and allowing me to navigate the process. Clients had a private off-market deal with a neighbor established and they called me to consult. After reviewing the contents of the offer and the demands, I encouraged the family to collapse the deal as I knew we could do better.

My clients had moved out of the home and were downsizing. Good Solid home, just needs some paint and mirror repairs.

We took some time, got the home prepped and then onto the open market. In a week, we found the right buyer and did the deal!

LOVE the Pizelle!! (any Italians out there??)

Whatta hoot! Such a pleasure working with this family. It took some time to find the right home. We lost out on a multiple-offer situation that really stung and took the wind out of our sails for a bit.

Although we kept on hunting and found the perfect home in the target neighbourhood. The process took longer than they’d expected, but everything fell into place as it should have.

I’ll never forget, when it was time to sign-off on the final paperwork signed, instead of signing electronically. They invited me over for Espresso and some fresh Pizzelle

Being a buyer was exhausting. But, Hery trusted us to find his family in the right place, and we did!

For the first time in my career, the home that Hery bought did not close because the tenants refused to vacate. We found this out the day before closing.

We quickly put a plan together, revived our search and got hunting. Within 72 hours we found an even better home in a superior location.

Hery and family were real troopers and a pleasure to work with!

40 under 40

I was honoured to be nominated and then selected as one of the 40 under 40 in Ottawa.

My business journey began at age 16 when I started my own lawn care company. That grew to a Full Landscaping company with 2 full-time crews.

I took the real estate course when I was 21 years old. After juggling Landscaping and real estate for a # of years, I decided to focus on one path: Real Estate. That was where my heart was.

I built a solid TEAM in the South End of Ottawa and began to service all of the Ottawa Area.

I then went on to Brokerage ownership. I enjoyed my 7+ years leading a group of realtors, although my real passion was working directly with Buyers and Sellers.

I shifted back into exclusively day-to-day sales in 2020.

So I guess reflecting back on my business journey, I have had a great run. I look forward to the next 20 years ahead!

3:45 am CLUB?

Nah, that’s pushing in. I know that there is a 5 AM club, and I’ve seen recently the 4 AM club

I'm an early-to-bed and early-to-rise kind of guy. Most mornings I’m up and rolling by 5 am.

I have my 1 cup french press beside me and I’m doing my thing.

It’s the time of the day 5-6 am when everything is quiet and peaceful. Most of the world is still tucked into bed.

No distractions. The phone isn’t ringing. Emails aren’t coming in.

It’s a time I cherish to set up my day for success.

Reflect on the day prior. Journal ideas that I’d like to accomplish.

Windier the Better: Big Kite + surfboard = FUN

Yes, I love to Kitesurf. It’s a sport that I transitioned into, after mastering Windsurfing.

Actually, one of my idols: is Sir Richard Branson Kitsurfs and I thought… that looks kind of neat, Why don’t I try that out?

What I found:
It’s much easier to travel with your gear. Everything collapsed into an oversized golf bag
It's not a heavy-strength sport if done correctly. There are 8 years olds kiting and some 80 years old kiting. Once you understand the “wind” and how to fly the kite, it’s a mental game.
The kiting community is very welcoming. Doesn’t matter where you kite.

I’ve been fortunate to Kite on many exceptional beaches.

One of my favorite spots is Hood River in Portland Oregon. If you haven’t been and are into outdoor activities, it’s a must!

When we travel we like to do activities and Hiking always makes the list.

As, a TEAM sports guy, I hadn’t done much hiking before meeting Mel.

Now, I love it!

This picture was taken in Canmore Alberta on a hike called the Windtower.

About 4 feet behind us, is a complete Drop off. No roped-off areas or cautionary signs. I’m actually getting sweaty palms as I type this ;)

You might be able to tell how anxious with my right knee buckling in. And of course, Mel is stoic as usual not phased at all by the height
