Thinking of upgrading your home but worried about the demo? 🛠️ We see it all the time, trying to pry off baseboards can quickly turn into a drywall repair nightmare.

Here is our go-to trick to save your walls:
Instead of jamming a pry bar directly against the drywall, slide a wide, flat mud trowel between the baseboard and the wall first. Then, place your pry bar against the trowel. The trowel distributes the pressure across a larger surface area, allowing you to pop those baseboards off cleanly without leaving behind costly holes or cracked paint.

A little prep goes a long way in keeping your home in top shape!

Think that damaged piece of siding means you need to hire a contractor? Think again!

How to replace a piece of siding:
1. Unlock the damaged piece: Use your siding tool to hook under the bottom of the siding piece directly above the damaged one and pull outward to unlock it.
2. Remove the damaged piece: Once unlocked, use the tool to slide along the top edge to release the damaged piece from the locking mechanism. Remove any nails securing it to the wall.
3. Prepare the new piece: Measure and cut your new piece of siding to match the exact size of the damaged one.
4. Install the new piece: Slide the top of your new siding piece into the locking channel of the piece above it.
5. Secure it: Once in place, nail it into the wall (ensuring not to nail too tightly to allow for expansion) and use your tool to snap the bottom edge back into the lock of the piece below it.

Is your home fighting you with sagging gutters? 🌧️

If you’ve been dealing with old, loose spikes that just won’t stay put, it’s time to stop re-nailing them. Over time, those spikes lose their grip and can cause your gutters to sag, leading to drainage issues around your foundation.

We always recommend upgrading to dedicated gutter screws. They bite deep, hold tight, and are designed to stay put even through our tough Canadian seasons. It’s a small, effortless fix that makes a massive difference in your home’s performance.

If you own a pool, you know the absolute frustration of spending half your weekend trying to chase down floating leaves with a skimmer net while they drift all over the place. 🤽‍♂️🍂

Instead of running laps around your deck, let physics and a tool you already own do all the heavy lifting.
Grab your leaf blower! 💨

By standing at one end and using the air velocity to create a gentle current on the water’s surface, you can easily guide, herd, and push every single stray leaf into one tight, concentrated corner. Once they are huddled together in a neat pile, you can drop your strainer net in and scoop them all up in a single pass.

What usually takes twenty minutes of frustrating skimming is done in under sixty seconds. Work smarter, not harder! 🏊‍♂️✨

Are you team pool skimmer net, or are you trying this leaf blower hack next weekend? Let us know in the comments below! 👇
