A few years ago, I had the privilege of helping start what has become one of Ottawa‘s most meaningful fundraising events, the BGC Ottawa glamping Gala.

Watching it grow a year after year has been incredibly special! This year‘s theme, 🌅 Sunset on the Riviera 🌅 is happening September 3, 2026, and I’m so proud to continue supporting an organization that changes the lives of thousands of kids and teens in our city.

More than 90% of BGC Ottawa’s funding comes directly from local community support. That support helps provide safe spaces, mentorship, meals, camps, and opportunities for over 4000 children and youth every year.

We are deep into planning for this year‘s amazing event and there’s still room for sponsors and community partners who want to make a real impact while aligning with an incredible cause.

Ottawa’s spring market is in full swing as April’s statistics from the Ottawa Real Estate Board show that sales in April jumped 24% from the previous month of March.

But this year’s spring market seems to be a bit less frenetic than last year, with this April’s sales coming in 2% below last April.

Prices in Ottawa continue to hold steady with the average sale price of a single-family home in April up more than 3% over last year.

April also saw a significant bump up in the number of new homes being sold as the HST rebate for new homes went into effect on April 1.

According to the February statistics released by the Ottawa Real Estate Board, conditions are aligning for a very strong spring market in Ottawa.

Average prices in February remain virtually unchanged from a year ago (a 1% decrease). Demand remained muted — unit sales were down almost 7% from last February — likely due to the extreme cold experienced in late January and early February this year.

We expect the current market conditions - stable prices, robust inventory (almost 4 months worth), stable or falling interest rates, along with pent-up demand from several months of below average sales volume - to lead to a strong and vibrant spring market in Ottawa.

The ‘Trump Effect’ seems to have slowed Ottawa’s real estate market in January, with sales down 4% from last year.

While January is typically quiet, buyers remain cautious amid economic uncertainty surrounding Trump’s trade war talk. As a result, inventory has grown, giving buyers more options—especially with another 0.25% rate cut from the Bank of Canada.

A hot spring market is expected as uncertainty fades, rates drop, and warm weather returns. It’ll be interesting to see how things shift in the coming months!
