It’s twenty twenty four, and I want MORE this year.

In September of last year, I was starting to feel like myself again. I could see the hard work from my nutrition and consistent movement paying off, and yet my mind still didn’t feel right. Something felt off.

I sat down and asked myself, what’s missing? What part of you doesn’t feel right? I re-wrote down my goals from January and took a breath as I noticed, almost everything I was doing was NOT working towards them. It’s as if I wrote the goals down and then turned my back to them as soon as February came around.

I had to be HONEST with myself and look within and leave adjustment behind ‘what’s missing?’ One thing came in clear, I felt disconnected from my community. I felt lonely as if I was slowing losing my purpose [especially when it comes to this page]

So I vowed to myself that this year it’ll be different.
We’re going to leave the
- Negative self talk
- Lack of believe
- Lack of consistency
- Crippling fear and anxiety
- Old stories I was told and believed about myself
it all behind & we’re going to step into 2024 with the mindset of ‘ MORE’

- More love
- More connection
- More joy
- More intentional direction
- More passion

The New Year’s pressure is real as we’ve listed all the things we want to improve on in 12 short months.

& with yesterday being blue Monday, it is not uncommon for most of us to lose sight of our list of goals. Instead of jumping back to it and trying to achieve the same goals, have you considered revisiting them and adjusting to meet it differently?

For example, in regards to your home instead of listing all the things you want to change, have you stopped and asked yourself if you’ve been doing your homes essential maintenances tasks?

Especially in the cold months, it’s important to
    1️⃣    Start by checking your home’s heating system to make sure it’s working properly and efficiently. Including checking your furnace filter.
    2️⃣    Inspect and clean your chimney to prevent chimney fires and ensure proper ventilation.
    3️⃣   Check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace them if necessary.

By tackling these tasks, you can help keep your home safe and comfortable as you start to come up with a plan on how to achieve your goals for the year.

It’s almost the new year, which means new goals! And hopefully, one of your goals for 2023 is becoming a homeowner!

But before you jump too quickly into the process, make sure you set some SMART goals for yourself. I’ve used this process with the women in my community numbers of times when it comes to our health and wellness goals & the results have always spoken for themselves.

So Here’s how to do create specifically for your home search:

 Get SPECIFIC. What do you want in your new home? What are your non-negotiables?

 Be MEASURABLE. How will you know If a house provides you with what you need? What are the parameters?

 Be ATTAINABLE. How will you purchase your house? Do you need to save up or fix your credit?

 Get REALISTIC. What’s actually within your budget? What area works best for your family? What size house do you need?

 Act TIMELY. When do you want to move in?

Setting SMART goals can help you take your goal from “one day” to the foreseeable future!

The path to becoming a homeowner may seem confusing and overwhelming at first. Here are 3 tips that can help ease the anxiety around getting the process started:

 1️⃣Get pre-approved. Many people overlook this, but you’ll want to do this first, so you are aware of how much you can borrow & also learn what you can do to help you borrow more
 
2️⃣Start working through your specific pre-approval terms. Many times your pre-approval will come with specific things for you to clear up before they can confidentially lend you the money. This is why its crucial for your first step to be getting a pre-approval.

3️⃣ Set a budget. Now that you know how much money you can borrow, or what you need to do to borrow it, it’s time to narrow down what property you can look at with a realistic budget and timeframe

As Realtors, we get this question a lot. The first step in knowing if it’s a good time to sell is by knowing the approximate value of your home.

Here are some tips on how you can do that:
1) Research recent sales of similar homes that compare to yours
2) Know and only search the area where your home is located. Every area has their own prices, even if it’s the exact same home. Ex. A 4 bedroom in Kanata vs Orleans will vary in price.
3) Work with a Realtor who will do everything they can to get you the best price for your home.
