It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William S. (Bill) Burnside on January 14, 2025.

A passion for business, construction & real estate combined with a strong work ethic, Bill led Merkburn Holdings from its inception to become one of Ottawa’s leading, locally owned and operated Real Estate Investment and Property Management Companies.

Bill’s courtesy, integrity, hard work, and compassion for everyone he dealt with along with an overwhelming desire to give back to the community were just a few of the values that contributed to his success as a businessman and philanthropist.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, but most of all, a true friend.
All will miss him.
