🎉 Retirement Announcement 🎉

After an incredible 20-year career with Merkburn Holdings Limited, we are announcing the upcoming retirement of Marlene Piitz whose final day will be April 30, 2026.

When Marlene first joined our team, she planned to stay for just two years. Two decades later, we’re grateful that her journey led her to grow alongside us for so many years.

Marlene has been a dedicated and valued member of our team since the day she joined. Starting on the front lines supporting tenants and coordinating with contractors and suppliers, she steadily advanced through the organization to become our Senior Leasing Manager.

Throughout her career, Marlene played a key role in building and maintaining strong tenant relationships, securing new leasing opportunities, and contributing to the long-term success of our portfolio. She is widely respected for her professionalism, thoughtful approach to negotiations, and her ability to balance tenant needs with business priorities.

Beyond her professional achievements, Marlene has been a trusted mentor and leader within our organization—someone colleagues could always turn to for guidance and support.

Marlene, thank you for your loyalty, leadership, and the lasting impact you’ve made on Merkburn. You will be greatly missed.

What a fantastic day on the slopes! ⛷️

Merkburn Holdings was proud to once again take part in the 34th Annual Skifest in support of Ronald McDonald House Ottawa, participating as a Silver Sponsor this year.

This incredible event brings the community together for a day of skiing, networking, and most importantly, supporting families who rely on Ronald McDonald House Ottawa during difficult times. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved, over $270,000 net was raised this year!

A big thank you to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and participants who made the event such a success. We’re grateful to be part of such a strong and supportive community.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William S. (Bill) Burnside on January 14, 2025.

A passion for business, construction & real estate combined with a strong work ethic, Bill led Merkburn Holdings from its inception to become one of Ottawa’s leading, locally owned and operated Real Estate Investment and Property Management Companies.

Bill’s courtesy, integrity, hard work, and compassion for everyone he dealt with along with an overwhelming desire to give back to the community were just a few of the values that contributed to his success as a businessman and philanthropist.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, but most of all, a true friend.
All will miss him.
