My Canada Day this year looked a lot different than I expected. Ottawa got hit with 118mm of rain — the highest recorded in 33 years — and 1,900 basements flooded across the city. Mine was one of them. Flooring had to come out immediately. Insurance denied it because the city’s infrastructure got overwhelmed. Thousands out of pocket. The City of Ottawa does have a grant available but you need your denial letter and all your receipts to apply. Most importantly — check your sewer backup coverage right now. I learned that the hard way so you don’t have to. 🏠💧
