Ottawa’s city-wide Giveaway Weekend takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Residents place gently used, unwanted household goods at their curbs for others to take for free, reducing landfill waste.
📅 The Details
When: Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2026
Where: City-wide (front curbs across Ottawa)
Time: Anytime throughout the day.
Leftover items must be removed from the curb by Monday morning.
🛠️ What to Give Away (and What to Avoid)You can set out nearly any durable, reusable item.
Allowed: Books, CDs, DVDs, children's toys/clothes, working furniture/small appliances, tools, kitchenware, bicycles, plants, and sporting equipment.
Not Allowed: Do not leave cribs, car/booster seats, baby gates, helmets, mattresses, bedding, or food on the curb.
🛍️ Etiquette & TipsMark items with a sign or sticker that says FREE.Make sure any items you want to keep are safely tucked away so treasure hunters don't accidentally take them.Respect property lines—do not walk on people's gardens or lawns.
Leftover items should be brought back inside and donated, not left at the curb.
