Bridge financing... What does it mean? What is the purpose?

Bridge financing refers to short-term funding that is used to bridge a financial gap between two transactions. Typically, it is a temporary loan that is used to cover expenses until more permanent financing can be arranged or until a longer-term financing option becomes available.

For example, if a person needs to purchase a new home but has not yet sold their current home, they may take out a bridge loan to cover the down payment and closing costs of the new home until their current home is sold. The bridge loan is then repaid when the sale of the old home is completed.
