One of the most important chapters in this site’s history began in 1885, when William Kennedy & Sons moved its operations to the west shore of the Owen Sound harbour.
The location gave the company more room to grow, with better access to both rail and marine transportation. From here, Kennedy’s could build and ship large equipment across Canada and around the world, serving Great Lakes fleets and customers as far away as Australia, England, Ireland, and the Caribbean.
The harbour was not just beside the business. It helped make the business work.
More than a century later, location is still what makes this stretch of Owen Sound’s waterfront special. Today, Harbour West is bringing a new chapter to the same connected setting, close to the harbour, close to downtown, and close to everyday essentials.
