⚠️ Notice: Phone Scam Alert
The St. John's Regional Fire Department is advising the public to be aware of a phone scam in which callers are spoofing our phone number and caller ID.
We received a report this morning from a resident who was contacted by someone whose caller ID displayed "Fire Department" and our legitimate phone number. The caller claimed to be working in the area and was phishing for personal information.
This call did not originate from the St. John's Regional Fire Department. It appears to be part of a scam in which fraudsters use technology to make it look like they are calling from a trusted organization.
If you receive a call like this:
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information.
💻 Do not allow the caller remote access to your computer or network.
📞 Hang up immediately if something doesn't seem right.
✔️ If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and contact the organization directly using a trusted phone number.
Please share this information with family, friends, and neighbours, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to phone scams.
