Having grown up in Belleville, then spending much of my working career in Calgary, Toronto and Oakville, I moved back home in 2020 with a fresh appreciation for just how special the Bay of Quinte region is.

With the municipal election on October 26 less than three weeks away, and voting opening next week October 15, I wanted to share why I’ll be casting my vote for Paul Fleming for Mayor Fleming For Mayor

I met Paul and his wonderful wife, Janeen, through the Rotary Club Of Belleville
Both give an incredible amount of their time and energy to our community through Rotary and other organizations often working quietly behind the scenes but also sharing their leadership skills in a calm, thoughtful and collaborative approach.

If you watch the Belleville Chamber of Commerce Sept 29th Municipal Election Debate and Paul’s October 6th interview with Lorne Brooker 800 CJBQ , I think you’ll quickly see those same qualities.

Paul has the vision, leadership, passion and energy Belleville needs, and I’m thrilled to see what our city will accomplish with Paul as Mayor. Fleming For Mayor

Please join me Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Dugout Grill, where we will start on a 9.4 km community ride. This will be a slow ride, with families of all ages, especially kids welcome, the more the merrier. There will be a few awesome surprises waiting at our Stanley Park stop at 16 Edgehill Road at 11:00 am. There will be a few very short speeches about avoiding a rinse and repeat of Hanley Park South. We'll be winding our way through some awesome subdivisions, and then we'll go through Hanley Park South to see a fairly new subdivision (and in Kim McKinney’s sole opinion alone) that is on a slippery slope. It's all about avoiding a rinse and repeat of Hanley Park South in our precious Bell Creek.
Spread the word and let's get out and support Friends of Bell Creek in opposition to the new development proposed in Hanley Park North.

Special evening with my in-laws on Lake Huron. After a full year away from the cottage due to my in-laws health challenges, this was day 1 of a special 2 week family vacation. Coincidentally, the same evening I joined my - https://www.facebook.com/share/g/19E5p8HPTr/?mibextid=wwXIfr group to prevent another atrocious development like Stanley Park South in the east end Belleville - happening on the environmentally protected lands at Stanley Park North. Watch until the end, so relevant to Bell Creek.

After many years of speculation and rumours, a long anticipated retail store appears to finally be coming to Belleville.
Costco will officially come to The Friendly City.
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis made the announcement during a meeting of Belleville council on Monday.
He said he spoke with the Director of Real Estate Development for Costco Wholesale Canada, Louie Loberti, about the new Costco site coming to the area.
“I was excited to discuss development plans for the new Costco site located just west of the casino and hotel lands on Bell Boulevard,” Ellis said during the meeting.
“The Costco build will be their new larger format of over 167,000 square feet, which I understand is larger than the Costco stores currently in both Kingston and Peterborough.”
Ellis says that there will also be a gas bar of just over 8,000 square feet, with 12 double-sided pumps that will allow for 24 automobiles to be fueled at the same time.
Construction value for the gas pumps and main building would total just over $37 million.
“Costco now has a draft site-plan agreement before them for their ex*****on, and a building permit can then be finalized and issued,” Ellis said.
According to the mayor, site preparation is expected to begin this fall, with construction in the spring and completion in the fall of 2027.
“We are excited to welcome this new business to Belleville and the new employment opportunities that it’s expected to create as this development moves forward,” Ellis told council.
Ellis thanked city staff for their work on the project for the last year and a half.
Additional details related to job creation, economic impacts, and employment opportunities will be shared with the public once they become available, according to Ellis.
