Today marked a significant milestone for Base31: we broke ground on 320 new homes at Hilltop Village as part of Base Living.

Since opening our doors in 2022, we’ve had a vision for what this place could become. What began with the revitalization of a historic site into a destination for culture, connection and community is now entering its next chapter: creating a place where people can live, work, gather and belong.

The groundbreaking for Base Living is the culmination of years of work, collaboration and shared belief in what Base31 can contribute to the future of Prince Edward County. We were proud to mark the occasion alongside our partners and community leaders, including The Honourable Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; MPP Tyler Allsopp; Mayor Ferguson; Hazzem Koudsi of Habitat for Humanity and B31 District General Manager Tammy Sweeny.

320 homes is more than a number. It represents the continued growth of the County and a new chapter for Base31.

Today, we broke ground. Now, we build what comes next.

For years, cities have been designed for efficiency. We're designing for connection.

Base Living reimagines the neighbourhood as a place where people naturally cross paths. Connected streetscapes, welcoming porches, laneways, and parks create opportunities for spontaneous conversations, evening walks, and the kind of neighbourly familiarity that so many people are looking for again.

Every great community has a story. Ours begins with one of Prince Edward County's most historic places.

Rooted within the legacy of Base31, a former WWII airbase transformed into a vibrant cultural destination, Base Living honours the past while building for the future. This is a community where history is thoughtfully preserved, reimagined, and woven into everyday life.
