Today marks 28 years since Swissair Flight 111 crashed off the coast of Peggys Cove. In a matter of minutes, 229 innocent lives were lost.
In our darkest hour, Nova Scotians showed who we are. Local fishers and boaters rushed to the water without hesitation. Over 2,400 military members, 450 RCMP officers, and Coast Guard personnel joined the response, while everyday families opened their homes and hearts to grieving loved ones.
To the families who lost someone that night: Nova Scotia still holds you in our hearts. To our first responders, military members, and brave locals who stepped up: we remain forever grateful for your service and sacrifice. We will never forget.
