There is no "timing" the market. If you're out there looking for a long term purchase or your forever home, and are financially and emotionally prepared, there are definitely some advantages in today's market.
Less competition and more control on your end to include conditions such as a house inspection, which wasn't the case at the start of this year.
Playing the waiting game to purchase your forever home in anticipation of a continued drop in prices may backfire when demand picks up and more buyers feel ready.
Reality is, there is a mass shortage of homes in Canada in relation to our growing population, especially here in Montreal. Once demand comes up, prices will rise. More competition, less control as a buyer. Although we may not see the market return to the craziness over the past couple of years, the cycle remains the same.
Keep in mind that over the long run, owning Real Estate has always proven to gain value and grow your wealth. ๐
