Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me! I achieved my Business degree from SFU concentrating in Finance and Economics and have worked in different major Canadian financial institutions helping clients fulfill their financial goals since 2006. Working as a Mortgage Professional, my role allows me to share my knowledge on the real estate market and advise people through one of the largest investments of their lives. My approach is to strategize and execute a plan to help clients get the most out of lenders and government incentive programs. When I'm not in the office, I am a proud supporter of the BC Women's Hospital + Health Center Foundation. I also love volunteering at my local church and spending quality time with my wife and young daughter.

Before you fall in love with a listing, know your budget, understand your mortgage options and make sure the monthly payment actually fits your life.

A Vancouver home for $150K sounds like a dream… until you see the mortgage rate. 😳

Welcome to 1981. 📼

The average residential sale price in Greater Vancouver was around $148,860, while 5-year fixed mortgage rates climbed to around 20.54%. Canadian mortgage rates even hit a record 21.75% that year.

So yes, home prices looked VERY different.

But so did the cost of borrowing.

It’s a good reminder that comparing housing markets across generations isn't as simple as comparing the price on the listing.

Home prices, mortgage rates, income, qualification rules and the broader economy all shape affordability.

Now for the debate 👀
